Over the summer we conducted an audit of the last 304 patients and these are the results.
People recommend us
The overwhelming majority of new patients, 92%, came on personal recommendation (word of mouth). Of that number 30% were directly referred by their GP and 62% came because a friend, relative or colleague, who had been before, suggested us.
Patients are happy to come back when they have another problem
70% of the patients in this audit were returning to have a different problem treated.
Although we treat patients with many different problems with great success, for this audit we focussed just on low back pain and neck and shoulder pain.
We assessed their outcome in 6 simple categories
Excellent Pain free
Good More than 80% better
Improved More than 50% better
No improvement
Worse
Unknown (lost to follow up)
Back pain short duration (less than 3 months) is usually straightforward to treat with an excellent outcome, but we thought it would be more interesting to look at low back pain which had been present for more than 12 months. Most of these patients had tried one or more other treatment approaches with little success.
At the end of treatment with me, I am delighted to report that 85% of patients were more than 50% improved; of these 23% were pain free, 44% were more than 80% better, and 18% were more than 50% better. The remainder (15%) showed no improvement. Nobody was worse with treatment.
For neck and shoulder pain the results were similar, 88% were excellent, good, or improved, with treatment.
